Class and Teacher Assignments

Hello Parents,

Parents are now able to access Edsby to see their child’s homeroom class and homeroom teacher name.  There were some technical difficulties this morning as classes were still being uploaded and changes were being made.  Corrections take 24 hours to appear in Edsby.  If you checked today, you should go in to Edsby tomorrow morning to verify that there have been no changes to the class assignment. In some cases, the teacher is new and has not yet been assigned to a class in the Edsby system.  Please see below for our list of teachers and homeroom classes.  When you arrive to school for your first day, your child should find their teacher at their designated location (kindergarten pen, field, or tarmac).  If you are new to the school, you may not have Edsby access.  You should come to the school on your assigned day and speak to a staff member who can direct you to the correct homeroom teacher.

There will be no classroom changes for students in the first week of school.  Parents had an opportunity in the spring to share any requests or concerns about class placements, and these requests were already taken into consideration when class placements were made.

Our priority this year is safety and smaller class sizes.  This means that we cannot always accommodate social requests.

School staff worked very hard to place children in an optimal learning environment. Students need a chance to settle into their new classes and adjust to their new environment.  The reality of having a smaller school is that we have to have many split classes. Our teachers are very competent in ensuring that the needs of the students in both grades are met in a split class.  They will still be learning and assessed on the appropriate grade level curriculum.  If you still have concerns about your child’s class placement after the first full week of school, please contact Mr. Barlow by email to set up an appointment.

We have several new teachers joining us this year, including some who have been brought on to increase the number of classrooms and make our class sizes smaller.  Welcome to Ms. Pignatelli, Ms. Liscio, Ms. Servidio, Ms. Tu-Abraham, Mr. Rosenfeld, and Ms. Ankrah.  Welcome back to Ms. Racioppo who is returning from her maternity leave, and to Ms. Mazzotta who will once again be covering for Ms. Kadonoff while she is on a brief leave of absence.
