Wilshire Questions & Answers

Good afternoon Wilshire Families,

Welcome back! I know this isn’t the start we were hoping for and there are mixed emotions with the school closure. By now your child should be online learning with their classmates and teachers. There will definitely be some navigation and tech challenges and we thank you for your patience as we work to resolve any issues.

Here is a Q&A to help you during this time.

Q) How does my child find their username and/or password to log on to the computer or their Google Classroom?

A) Please email your child’s teacher for usernames, passwords, and Google Classroom/Link information.

Q) My child will be absent/late. Now that there is a school closure, how should I report the absence?

A) Similar to when schools are open, enter absences in Edsby, email or call 905-889-6767 and leave a message stating your child’s name, grade, homeroom teacher, and the reason for the absence. If your child is ill, please indicate all symptoms.

Q) I received an email stating that my child is absent/not online but they are online. What should I do?

A) If a student has not logged on by the time a teacher takes attendance (am and pm) OR the teacher did not see the child log on when attendance was being taken, you will receive an email from us indicating that your child is absent. Please email us at to let us know that your child has logged on.

Q) I borrowed a Chromebook from the school but is it not working. What should I do?

A) For borrowed technology, please click on  and fill in the information. Someone from the YRDSB IT department will contact you to help resolve the issue.

Q) My child struggles to learn virtually throughout the day. What should I do?

A) This is a challenging time for everyone. Sitting all day looking at a computer screen isn’t for everyone. Multiple breaks, participating during portions of the day, connecting with the teacher to discuss how to support your child, and determining as a family what will support the well-being of your child is key to support the well-being and success of our children.
