Dear Families,
Last week, we shared personalized emails with families with information about the 2022-2023 school year. The Government of Ontario recently announced that school boards must continue to offer students virtual learning for the 2022-2023 school year. Accordingly, for 2022-2023 school year, YRDSB is providing face-to-face (F2F) and virtual learning.
Virtual learning will be offered through an Elementary Virtual School (EVS) and Secondary Virtual School (SVS). Our plans do not include hybrid learning next year.
If your child will be attending school in-person (face-to-face) next year, no action is required. If your child is graduating this school year, no action is required.
Given the numerous benefits of in-person learning, we are planning for our students to attend school in person, while following all appropriate measures to protect the health and safety of students, staff and families.
Students who attend school in-person benefit from:
- developing social/interpersonal skills
- improving in-person communication skills
- building teamwork skills
- wide range of experiential learning opportunities that support different learning styles
- sharing and playing in person
- participating in social activities, extracurricular clubs, teams and athletics
- leadership opportunities provided through co-curricular activities
- student leadership and mentorship
Schools will continue to follow YRPH COVID-19 Guidelines to ensure safety measures for in-person learning.
If you would like your child to attend a virtual school for the 2022-2023 school year, please complete the form sent to you via personalized email from “YRDSB Update” with the subject line: YRDSB (Elementary/Secondary) Virtual School Optional Transfer for (student name) – please read.
If you did not receive the email, you can find a link to the forms for Elementary Virtual School and for Secondary Virtual School on the Board website.
Important: If you wish for your child to attend the Elementary or Secondary Virtual School for the 2022-2023 school year, please complete the Virtual School Transfer Form by April 7. When selecting the Virtual School, students and families should expect to remain in the selected model for the full school year.
